For 2013, Rana Rojo unveils their new swim/resort collection La Lucha during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim July 19-23, 2012. Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim features top designers from across the globe showcasing their new collections within the gorgeous setting of Miami Beach, Fl. Inspired by Mexican Lucha Libre’s provocatively playful and vibrant appliquéd masks, Rana Rojo has translated this cultural phenomenon into a collection that shares the uninhibited use of color and ingenious appliqué work. Rana Rojo transformed these modern day warriors’ costumes and masks into distinct and wearable garments. Prints for La Lucha fearlessly weave indigenous textile patterns and rock poster and ‘zine’ aesthetic into cultural quilt. La Lucha embodies a celebration of life where you choose masks to bring forth inner spirit and embody your personal mythology.

Born in Katmandu, Nepal, designer Ash Rana and Cuban born, fine artist Damian Rojo merged their talents and formed Rana Rojo in 2008. During Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2011 they introduced their Swim Vixen-Swim Collection at The Standard Hotel, Miami Beach. This collection was inspired by 50s delicates, orientalism and 60s film femme fatales featuring hand dyed and screen-printed textiles. Rana Rojo’s designs are rooted in history, architecture, and experiment.
